History of the Gosford Chess Club
The Gosford Chess Club formed in 1971 by Duncan Bassett. It became an internal club of the Central Coast Leagues Club in 1984 under the stewardship of Kevin Jones.

Hello.
The Gosford Chess Club is about supporting chess players of all ages and skill levels on the NSW Central Coast.
Well attended Tuesday tournaments, over a range of time controls, provides members a club and social experience while gaining the opportunity to become rated players.
The 2025 Gosford District Championship and the 2025 Gosford Club Blitz Championship are both ACF and FIDE rated.
The Gosford Chess Club in 2025 will host the “Big 3” chess tournaments at the Central Coast Leagues Club, Gosford; the Summer Blitz (Feb 22) the Winter Rapid (June 28); both ACF Quick and FIDE rated, and the Gosford Open (Oct 25,26).
The Big 3 provides the opportunity for Gosford Chess Club members to play locally in a larger setting against players from other regions, over a range of time controls. This further provides social, club, and rating opportunities for chess players on the NSW Central Coast. It is hoped the Big 3 becomes a tradition.
The Summer Blitz (ACF and FIDE rated) had an attendance of 58 players with over a quarter being Gosford Chess Club members.Our most recent Swiss and Allegro tournaments on Tuesday nights fielded 38 and 32 players respectively. We have 54 financial members.
We will also have two Club Challenge's in 2025; against Ettalong Chess Club and against Norths.
